Why Embed Your Instagram Feed to WordPress?

Embedding Instagram into your WordPress site can significantly enhance your online presence and boost engagement with your audience.

By seamlessly connecting your Instagram account with your website, you can drive more traffic, increase follower interaction, and create a dynamic platform for sharing your content. This integration not only improves user experience but also allows for a broader reach, exposing your site to a larger audience. Implementing social sharing buttons can encourage visitors to share your content, thus extending your content’s reach beyond your immediate followers.

How Embedding Instagram Positively Impacts Your SEO Rank

Integrating your Instagram account with your WordPress site can significantly enhance your SEO rankings. This integration allows for consistent branding and a unified voice across platforms, effectively showcasing who you are as a brand or business.

With recent Google updates seemingly favoring brands that demonstrate Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust (EEAT), having a strong social media presence can position you advantageously in search results.

  • Make sure to have reviews of your services or products on Instagram.
  • Make sure to make it clearly visible what and to who you are selling.

Step 3. Embed Your Instagram Feed to WordPress

After creating your Instagram feed widget with Light Widget, it is now time to embed it onto you’re WordPress site.

Before we do that, there is one important aspect to consider when adding your Instagram feed to your WordPress site – where to place it?

The main goal for utilizing this Instagram feed widget is to enhance trust. The most important part of your website is its content (copy and images) specially curated to convince the viewer that your services or products are made for them.

So…

  • Good practice: Consider placing your Instagram feed towards the end of your pages as an extra trust factor. After your viewers have had the chance to read and visit your products or offers.
  • Bad practice: Adding your Instagram feed at the very top of the page, where viewers will be more inclined to leave your site before even reaching your offer or product.

Ok, now that we got that out the way, let’s embed our Instagram feed.

In case you lost your embed code, head over to your Light Widget dashboard click on the “Widgets” tab, and then “Show More”

Widgets tab

Here you have all your widget settings and the option to add more features to your widget.

If you haven’t already, I recommend that you add the widget upgrade add-on for best performance.

When you add the upgraded add-on for just $10 (one-time fee), you get:

  • The Instagram feed is updated every 30 minutes.
  • Better CDN for faster loading times.
  • The ability to change widget settings.
  • Email alerts for access tokens that have expired.
  • It works on HTTPS sites.

Upgrade and copy your embed code

Now, head over to your WordPress site, and select the page you want to add your Instagram feed widget to (I will select my homepage).

Once you are editing your page, scroll down and decide where you will be adding your Instagram widget. Remember not to place to high up the page as this will cause viewer distractions.

Create a new container where you want to place your Instagram feed. And drag-and-drop an HTML widget inside that container.

Now, add the widget code you copied from earlier, and paste it into the HTML Code area.

You should now have your Instagram feed placed where you want it! Make some adjustments to the parent container holding the widget such as:

  • Adding some padding,
  • Change the size of the container to make it either smaller or larger,
  • Add a heading widget just above the HTML widget and name it “Follow us on Instagram”.

When done, hit the “Save” button and you are good to go. You have just added more trust and credibility to your site.
